X-mas list (tentative)

1. My mom's entire recipe book recreated.
2. External flash (if my broken one is not under warranty).
3. New lens filters.
4. New shoes. Maybe a pair of mid-tops.
5. Someone to sew all my too fat ties into bow ties.
6. A vacuum.
7. A babysitter for Archie (if roommates aren't home when I'm in Hawaii)
8. This (surprisingly) nice trench coat at American Eagle. Weird.

...for now.

Perfect attendance

So basically, anyone (read: everyone) has free reign to be excused from class without consequence. Two claps for swine flu!

September 21, 2009

Dear Student Body:

Seattle University is implementing policies for class attendance this quarter to help prevent the spread of flu viruses by allowing excused absences from class while students are ill.

If you have a fever or other flu symptoms, I urge you to remain home and to stay away from others. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that you remain isolated until at least 24 hours after your fever is gone.

Students should also do the following:

1. Inform your professors by e-mail or phone if you are going to miss class because of illness; and

2. Continue with your studies while at home and ask your professor by e-mail or upon returning about making up assignments and tests as necessary.

Faculty have been informed of the following:

1. Students who are sick are to be allowed to miss class without being penalized;

2. Faculty are to make every effort to allow students to make up assignments and tests; and

3. Students are not required to provide a note from a health care provider.

We will continue to provide you with flu season updates through e-mail. For more information, please visit the university website: www.seattleu.edu/flu.

Sincerely,

Jacob L. Diaz

Vice President for Student Development

Dream: Jeans and Jade

Last night I two pretty vivid dreams.

Jeans
I'm in some fancy schmancy clothes store. Two levels. I go down to the men's floor and there are barely any clothes. These three huge statues hanging from the ceiling take up half of the store. I think "how typical for a fancy clothes store to have barely any clothes like those restaurants that give you one bite of food as a meal." So then I head out but run into Katrien Pickles, a friend from high school that currently resides in Australia.

She stops me, we hug and celebrate our unplanned reunion. Then she begins to insist on buying me something. At first I refuse because it's expensive clothes. But then, out of the cornier of my eye I see the clearance section and accept my gift. I begin going through the clearance rack and come across a pair of Levi's cutoff jeans. I get excited because then I can wear them to work. There's this thing though, the jeans, in all their fancy, weird, designer-ness, are semitransparent. But then I think I can wear them over another pair of cutoffs and that will be super edgy. So I head to the dressing room. I take a long time trying it on. Somehow it looks like I'm wearing a skirt but one of the employees thinks it looks good. I don't remembered if I got to making a decision of whether to get it or not.

Jade
Then the next thing I knew I was going to Jade's (step-sister) birthday party. It was at a restaurant and my whole family was there. As I entered I saw old men doing sake bombs at the bar. I went over to Jade and family and Jade began to explain to me that she like... invented and/or sold something and was now really really rich. I was pretty happy for her. Then I woke up.

I (think I) like...

When people respond to an "I lost my camera in your apartment, please return it" flyer.

Ok, I definitely like it.

But what I'm a little confused about is: how it happened. So, I left it in my bag on the roof of my friends' apartment. The apartment is locked. The elevators and stairwells are locked. The roof is locked. All accessible by residents only. So, whoever picked up my bag, and I knew this when I couldn't find it Sunday night, lived in the building.

She responded to a flyer my friends made, which was very nice of her. Thing is, if you're the type of person who is trying to help someone out wouldn't you put up a "found" flyer? Maybe she was just busy or lazy.

I'm picking it up tomorrow morning and am still apprehensive. Maybe it's missing a lens, or a memory card, or is broken. Maybe there are NSFW pictures which I'll post here later. I'm not holding my breath.

Also, I found out at the end of my work shift tonight and leapt and shouted in pure joy. Sometimes I really like people.

OH, and as for the etsy selling prints thing. I think I still want to do it. Glad that gave me a reason to get on things.

Don't like...

My bag with my camera got stolen.

Considering selling prints to make some money. Crack open those piggy banks... please.

that I'll never get to see the (future) Hawaiian island, Loihi, break the surface of the Pacific. I guess it'll take 10,000 to 100,000 years.

Dream: Hair did

Last night's dream (I still remember it vividly):

I am in a college dorm. Not any of the dorms at Seattle University but a dorm I am living in in my dream. In some silly scheme (I'm sure) the dorm decided to invite some Supercuts like company to cut hair for free. Everyone was really excited and there were banners everywhere. That kind of turned me off in a "I'm going to boycott corporate America" way... but hey, free hair cut!

Despite the young hip girls that were cutting everyone else's hair, I got this old grandpa. I think he was legit but then he stopped cutting my hair halfway through and didn't want to finish it. I was obviously stressed and irritated. So I asked him to finish my haircut and was denied again. So, the best part? I started to fake cry. Like you do when you're five... and to no avail. Then I woke up.

This is obviously in relation to the fact that I was going to get my hair cut tomorrow, which is rescheduled for Sunday (possibly). I even asked for the haircut I want from Wilfred.

What were you doing on this once in a thousand year moment?

I was getting a ticket for biking through a red light. 124 dollars. Well. Learned that lesson. I'll be scheduling a court date so I can beg for forgiveness and a lower fine. I'll keep you posted.

Oh, and I'm back to blogging.
